The President’s an Alien The president’s an alien. So’s his wife; so’s all their friends. So are all conservatives, That’s why they’re good at golf. Aliens brought us kangaroos, Cigarettes and canapes. We have not evolved from these, But everything else did. B-Verse Bill and Hillary drop a dime. And the hot line puts ‘em right in touch, With Richard Nixon and his wife. Aliens brought ‘em back to life…brought ‘em back to life. Chorus Alien…the prez is an, Alien…the prez is an, Alien…the prez is an, And here’s Fox News with the proof. Martian fundamentalists, Rule the world and you’re on their list. So are all you humanists, That’s why you’re goin’ to hell. Alien conservatives, There’s millions of ‘em here today. Sneakin’ in from outer space, Like Jesus once did. Chorus Alien…the prez is an, Alien…the prez is an, Alien…the prez is an, Aliens brought us kangaroos, Cigarettes and canapes. We have not evolved from these, But everything else did.

SERVING THE LIGHT I’ve been round these parts for more than forty years. And in all that time I’ve never strayed. More than five miles from this lighthouse on a given day. Always back by dusk to chase the dark away. In a lighthouse there’s always a couple stairs, And a couple hundred after that. I’ve been up and down those stairs ten thousand times, Makin’ sure that light shines clearly out at sea. Well it’s been thirteen years since Margaret passed away. I ain’t seen a dozen people in that time. I remember all their kind condolences. What a shame to lose that Sheltie in her prime. Then my sister came and stayed a month or two. She don’t know me though our parents were the same. She lost her husband in the war in ’42. She still wakes up at night and calls his name. Once we watched a wave of forty feet or more, Wash a freighter up right on the reef. It gently rested there until the crew was saved. It had missed the rocks by less than twenty feet. Well I’ve been slidin’ down that slope for quite a while. Mostly aches and pains and creaky knees. Because of drink and smoke and life of a certain style. I mostly do exactly as I please. I mostly do exactly as I please. I mostly do exactly as I ...

WE JUST WANT TO BE HAPPY The man’s been under a hefty strain. He doesn’t need anyone jerkin’ his chain. If he don’t watch out he’s gonna need a new brain. He just wants to be happy. He ain’t no cowboy; he finally found out. There was nothing to prove, but there was always some doubt. He finally quit before they counted him out. He just wants to be happy. I believe in love today. Or I’d dry right up and blow away. Blow monkey see, blow monkey do. Jane’s not so charming when she’s finally through. The point that I’m tryin’ to get through to you is, She just wants to be happy. Jack put on his glasses and he opened his eyes. Looked into the mirror and soon realized, That the sadness he felt could be seen in his eyes. He just wants to be happy. Here’s to them that wish us well. And always greet us with a cheerful yell. All the rest can go to hell. We just want to be happy. If you find that time has no healing effect, And what hasn’t killed you may be stalking you yet. Let me remind you in case you forget, You just want to be happy. I believe in love today. Or I’d dry right up and blow away. Happiness is all I crave. Just the same as yesterday.

IF I HAD WHEELS If I had wheels I’d be a bus, On the road somewhere. Goin’ away from here. I could meet a man and he’d be one of us, Not some alien, Sent to show us up. I’ve heard some whoppers in my time, And your life story is, The biggest whopper that comes to mind. If I had wings I’d learn to duck. Instead of feelin’ like a flat ol’ squirrel, Underneath o’ your pick-up truck. CHORUS: This world has got along without me up ‘til now. Reckon it won’t miss me when I’m gone. Looks like I’m hangin’ by my last remaining nerve. Our hero fell off at the curve. My mama joined the C.I.A., Got a job somewhere, Teaching sailors how to swear. She knew a cowboy once upon a time. Quite the ladies man. She said he invented lying. He taught Einstein everything he knew. And while he was at it, he taught, Mrs. Einstein a thing or two. She got a job in Hitler’s restaurant. And started livin’ in the kind ‘o style, In all the poverty a girl could want. CHORUS: This world has got along without me up ‘til now. Reckon it won’t miss me when I’m gone. Looks like I’m hangin’ by my last remaining nerve. Our hero fell off at the curve. If I had a ha... If I had a hab... If I had a habit I’d be a nun, And fly around just like a bird, Tellin’ all the crazy things I heard. I’d find a cross for you to bear. And you could trudge around, And drag it everywhere. Have you ever tried the simple truth? You should give it a try sometime, While changin’ clothes in a telephone booth. If I had wheels I’d be a bus. And I’d be on the road. And I’d be outta here. And I’d be on the road. Goin’ away from here. And I’d be on the road. And I’d be outta here.

Why 03:52
WHY The icing on the cake, Came the day I saw him convicted. God knows that man’s a snake, I can’t believe you were so proud of him. I hope he sleeps a troubled sleep. That’s about all the ill I wish him. I’ve lost a slew `o sleep, Because of the love you wasted on him. The Earth won’t quit ellipting `round the sun. LEDs won’t cease to shine. When he finally gets down on his knees, And begs you darlin’ to forgive him, please Tell me Why would you treat someone that way? Tell me Why would you ever let him stay? When he finally gets down on his knees, And begs you darlin’ to forgive him, please. The Earth won’t quit ellipting `round the sun. LEDs won’t cease to shine. When he finally gets down on his knees, And begs you darlin’ to forgive him, please don’t do it. When that elevator starts its climb, Keep your head try not to lose your mind . Tell me Why he ain’t leavin’ here today? When he finally gets down on his knees, And begs you darlin’ to forgive him, please.

about

King and Cos Kenosha, Wisconsin

King and Cos are a duo that plays a surprising variety of music. They perform often-ignored songs in a zany bi-polar array of styles. John’s original songs tell stories of budding twits with biting wit. He studied theory and song-writing for three years at UW-Parkside with Dr. Augie Wegner, who helped to refine his song writing.
Among Virginia’s influences are Joni Mitchell, and Billie Holiday.
